Let me introduce myself:

I’m Andrea Di Pierno, an italian PhD student in Cybersecurity and i’m attending my first year of study at IMT School of Advanced Studies Lucca.

My PhD programme is defined as a National PhD in Italy. It’s a new kind of PhD in which a primary university creates a consortium with many host universities, in which students does the majority of their activities. Grants are sponsored by the hosting universities, while the main university is responsible only for the administrative stuff.

In my case, i’m enrolled in my main university, the IMT of Lucca, but i have been assigned to the University of Catania as my PhD host. Specifically, i have been assigned to the Mathematics and Computer Science Department.

My class is composed by students with many different academic backgrounds, from mathematicians to lawyers, as cybersecurity involves many different disciplines.

Personally, i have a Computer Science background. I achieved bot a BSc and a MSc in Computer Science at the University of Salerno, specializing in Cloud Computing and IT Security.

In this blog i’ll write about my PhD experience and my goals to keep track of my progresses and experiences.

I hope you’ll like it. See ya!
